Nurse - Operations & Surgical Care

One of the largest private healthcare service providers in Germany is seeking for highly-skilled, compassionate, and reliable Medical operations/ Surgical Nurses

The role of the Operation &Surgical Care Staff Nurse, encompasses performing a variety of specialized and routine activities in the Department including but not limited to providing direct patient care and coordinates patient care-related activities using the nursing process, managing patients before, during and after procedures, administering medications, maintaining patient’s records, counseling and educating patients and their families and performing emergency treatment as needed. Nursing care given to pediatric, adolescent, and adult patient population.

Responsibilities

• Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedure
• To be flexible to work within other areas or departments to meet the demands of the trust workforce model and changing service needs.
• To oversee the shift and take responsibility for the smooth running of the service and whilst they are on duty, liaise with managers and senior nurses to ensure effective communication for the benefit of patients and their families.
• Primary and treatment care of sick and dependent patients
• Professional implementation of the care documentation and compliance with quality standards
• Prepare the operating room by maintaining sterile procedures to set out instruments and set up other surgical equipment.
• Be able to move quickly and remain organized during complicated procedures.
• Understand the importance of time-outs and other safety checks.
• Use critical thinking skills to determine potential surgical complications and the appropriate next steps to take.
• Be familiar with all surgical instruments and be comfortable assisting with a variety of surgical procedures.
• Understand medication dosage, complications, contraindications, and interactions
• Know how to properly label medication on the surgical field
• Collaborate with the surgical team and promote teamwork to ensure patient safety
• Recognize respiratory and cardiovascular decline and know initial steps to obtain help and to stabilize your patient
